In the Netherlands young vegetable plants are raised on 220 hectares. Until now, energy research mainly focussed on production cultivation in greenhouses. Upon commission of the programme Greenhouse as Energy Source, Wageningen UR Greenhouse Horticulture has explored the possibilities of applying ecocultivation techniques during plant raising.
