Teachers
In the teachers’ pages you find general information about the philosophy behind the project and the goals of the lessons.
You can find also an instruction about working with the case-oriented method, more information about the cases, and an instruction how to make it an international project
If you click methods you will enter the part of the site that is only open for teachers (or leaders of youth groups etc). If you mail us, you will get a password, and after that you are free to use the material of this part of the site.
You will find there the information you need to work with the cases (answers to the questions etc).
In ‘extra information’ you can find some practical material, but also some theoretical texts about the importance of biodiversity and of ‘thinking in cycles’ for your own information. Texts that are maybe too long for most students, but good for developing your thinking.
For teachers there is also a series of ‘thematic lessons’, based on actual situations. You can use these for different educational activities: traditional lessons or for (groups of) students to work on in a project model. We try to add on a regular basis new items here. They are based on actual problems.
Themes like these ara also often fit to combine different subjects:
– Water (as in ‘Water and History’ and The Dying Dead Sea), Food is of course often also about water! like in ‘Wonderbeans’, and ‘Growing food in the city’ – and more. — Population biology of humans in ‘Easter Island’ , but this can be used also to study ‘human history and the environment” and Ecological degradation – Energy in ‘Who needs oil anyway?’ and ‘Making sense of geothermal energy’
